Do you think your location in a city or area affects your education?
Long story short- yes. This factor can greatly affect your education; but only if you let it!
There are many, many articles talking about how your location can and will effect your education. No matter what anybody says, using your location as a reason as to why you’re not “smart” is a crutch. Absolutely anybody can become a genius/ extremely intelligent through solo work and pushing your limits.
If there aren’t any good schools in your area, you can travel to get to them. If there aren’t good teachers in your area, you can teach yourself through research and time. If you don’t have any support from your parents/ family, you can seek support through other people or even higher ups, such as a mentor.
Someone in the absolute worst area and worst position can still be pulled out of the rough to be an extremely intelligent member of society that can put forth great work and ideas. Anybody could bring a new discovery into the world! There is no excuse you can use to really defend your lack of smarts (not including legitimate issues.)
Besides family life, there are many other factors that can impact education.
In the movie undefeated, a group of boys on the football team really show how playing sports in high school can impact your education. The main character in the movie is a main player, and is very important to the team. When he starts letting his grades fall, he isn’t allowed to play football anymore.
sports have a HUGE impact on education. When a kid or young adult really enjoys doing something, they’re going to find anyway possible to continue to enjoy the activity. if its their grades that are causing them to have issues continuing the sport, they’re going to try to raise their grades as fast as possible. this is seen throughout the movie.
this is especially seen in college students. studies have shown that the more exercise one gets the higher performance they show in school. “While some college athletes experience difficulty balancing the responsibilities of their sport with the responsibilities of their academics, many student athletes actually find that the high degree of organization required to accomplish both leads them to be highly successful in both areas.” (FNU) not only are the sports good for your physical body, they’re good for your mental and academic health!
Do you think we should find other ways to try to keep a students attention or improve their performance without sports? Sound off below.

Many people like to workout, and stay fit. They want to feel young as long as possible and be as healthy as possible for a fruitful life. While keeping your body young is important, keeping your brain “young” is just as much so.Many people who stop challenging their thinking and problem solving skills become unhappy. Instead of working with their brain, they tend to feel like their brain is more of a crutch. Because of this, many people can develop mental health problems, and may turn to self harm, drug use, and sometimes suicide.
When it comes down to it, it is not the challenging your brain that is difficult, but the difficult part is knowing what to challenge your brain with. The content, and how you are challenging your brain can make all the difference. This is another way education is important. School gives you the content to work on , so you don’t have to figure it out yourself. Like any physical exercise, at first it is not meant to be easy or fun. The more you force yourself to do something you do not like, the stronger you become. Without it, many people would not know how to challenge their brain and how to make it think differently for different situations.
Now of course people stimulate their brains with crosswords, and jigsaw puzzles, which are all great, but schooling is superior. It really pushes your thinking out of its comfort zone in a way that develops your thinking into an adult mindset that you can apply in any field. Physical exercises have also been linked to having better grades. “the findings still showed that exercise made a sizable difference in a student’s G.P.A. On a 4.0 grade scale, students who exercised vigorously seven days a week had G.P.A.’s that were, on average, 0.4 points higher than those who didn’t exercise.” (Wellblogs)
Teachers know that all the learning is done outside the classroom, and that their job as educators is to to give their students a what and a how, the content and the exercises. All teachers are, are our personal trainers for our brains. Everybody learns different, but school gives us all something to work on to keep our heads healthy and strong, and most importantly teaches us how to learn.
Does one person’s education have an impact on the entire world?
in short, yes! when we look at the biggest accomplishments and discoveries of the world, we relate each to one or two singular people. Think about the invention of the lightbulb; who discovered/invented this gadget? It all ties back to one person – Thomas Edison. Think about how different the world would be without this small gadget.
not only does this seem important for small appliances, this relates to very important medical discoveries. one small group of people can find cures for many diseases and health problems. Wilhelm Röntgen- whom discovered that x-rays, or radiation therapy helped cure different cancers- went to two universities. Although he was expelled from one due to a prank played by another student, he went back to another school to further his education. In 1869, Röntgen earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Zurich.
Another example of this is how the life of hearing aid batteries was extended. “Minnesota teenager Ethan Manuell didn’t expect to make a major medical breakthrough when he was asked to make a science fair project. As he told USA Today, his main concern was getting a good grade. After receiving the assignment from his eighth grade science teacher, Mrs. Omland, Manuell started tinkering. Using materials he had at home—including old battery-operated toy bugs and the batteries from his hearing aid—he discovered a way to extend the lifespan of zinc hearing aid batteries by 85 percent.” (mentalfloss) This one discovery has saved people over $70 a year on batteries that are needed!
this is just two examples of how some of the most important health discoveries were made by someone who participated in education in their young lives. Without these discoveries, many , many people would and could die from having no treatment (besides surgery, if applicable) for their cancer; and others would be spending a lot of money on hearing aid batteries when its unnecessary!
